Led by M.A.C. Hermann Trophy finalists Jason Garey (Maryland/Gonzales, La.) and Jeff Rowland (New Mexico/Albuquerque, N.M.), the 2005 NCAA Men’s College Cup will showcase the talents of six members of the 2005 NSCAA/adidas Men’s Division I All-America Team.
Joining Garey and Rowland are Rowland’s Lobo teammates Andrew Boyens (Dunedin, New Zealand) and Lance Watson (Nederland, Texas) Clemson’s Phil Marfuggi (Manalapan, N.J.) and Nathan Sturgis (St. Augustine, Fla.) and Duke Hashimoto (Kapolei, Hawaii) of Southern Methodist.
New Mexico, Akron and Indiana were the schools most represented among the field of 38 players with three each. The Zips placed two on the first team with seniors Ross McKenzie (Whangamata, New Zealand) and Yohann Mauger (Rennes, France), while junior Sinisa Ubiparipovic (Mentor, Ohio) was a second-team selection. The Hoosiers were led by Hermann Trophy finalist Brian Plotkin (Lisle, Ill.) on the first team and third-team choices Jacob Peterson (Portage, Mich.) and Jed Zayner (Orland Park, Ill.).
The honorees will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, as part of the 2006 NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, Pa.
