| Cerrone, Duran Earn High School Player of the Year Honors |
Hannah Cerrone (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and Andrew Duran (Mokena, Ill.) have been named the 2006 NSCAA/adidas High School Players of the Year.
A member of the U-17 U.S. Women's National Team, Cerrone compiled 69 points on 29 goals and 11 assists in her senior season at Ketcham High School. Duran came back from lung surgery to play in 11 games for Lincoln-Way East High School, posting 10 goals and as many assists in only 11 games before a broken foot prematurely ended his season.
Both have been invited to take part in the annual NSCAA/adidas All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, as part of the 2007 NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
2006 NSCAA/adidas High School Players of the Year
Hannah Cerrone Ketcham High School, Wappingers Falls, N.Y. Hannah Cerrone completed a six-year varsity career with a stellar 2006 effort, scoring 23 goals and serving up seven assists in the regular season. She then added six goals and four assists in post-season play to close out her senior campaign with 29 goals and 11 assists, good for 69 points. She team advanced to the regional finals with a record of 18-3-3. She also is a member of the U.S. Women’s U-17 National Team, where she has earned two starts as a defender.
Andrew Duran Lincoln-Way East High School, Mokena, Ill. Andrew Duran earned 2006 Illinois State High School Player of the Year honors after rebounding from surgery to correct a recurring lung problem. In only 11 games, he scored 10 goals and had 10 assists before a broken foot prematurely ended his season. He is a two-time NSCAA/adidas All-America at both the youth and high school levels. An honor roll student throughout high school and a member of the Chicago Magic Soccer Club, he has participated in international tournaments with the U-15 and U-17 U.S. National Teams. He will attend Creighton University this fall.
