| Bock, White Named NSCAA National Players of the Week for Oct. 10 |
Brittany Bock (Notre Dame/Naperville, Ill.) and O’Brian White (Connecticut/Scarborough, Conn.) have earned NSCAA National Player of the Week honors for Oct. 10.
Bock led the Fighting Irish to a 2-0 record last week by scoring four goals, including a hat trick in the win at Syracuse. White had 10 points for the Huskies, including his first career hat trick in the match against Pittsburgh.
Each week, a male and female player is selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players are announced each Wednesday afternoon until Nov. 1 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also are recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches.
This week will feature three games, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when No. 12 Creighton hosts Bradley in a Missouri Valley Conference men’s contest beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Women’s action continues on Thursday, Oct. 11 as Rutgers travels to Louisville for a Big East match at 8 p.m. ET. Friday, Oct. 12, will see a Battle by the Bay as San Francisco meets Santa Clara at 8 p.m. ET.
Brittany Bock F, Jr., Notre Dame, Naperville, Ill. Bock totaled nine points, including four goals in a 2-0 week for the Irish. She had a hat trick in a 4-1 win at Syracuse on Oct. 5. Bock also tallied a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win at St. John’s on Oct. 7. This is her first BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week award.
O’Brian White F, Jr., Connecticut, Scarborough, Conn. White had 10 points in Connecticut’s home wins over Hartford (3-1) on Oct. 3 and Pittsburgh (4-0) on Oct. 6. The junior netted his first career hat trick and the first for UConn since 2004 in the win over the Panthers. White’s first goals against Pittsburgh came in a 10-minute span midway through the first half followed by another tally at the 60:24 mark. He also notched a goal and two assists in the victory over Hartford.
