The Ninth Annual Big 3 Enshrinement Weekend will be held at the National Soccer Hall of Fame the weekend of Aug. 1-3, 2008, in Oneonta, N.Y. The newest members of the NSCAA Hall of Fame, Paul (Sandy) Sanderson and Jerry Yeagley, will be enshrined that evening as part of a ceremony that includes enshrinees from the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA).
The Big 3 Weekend incorporates the enshrinement of honorees from three major soccer associations: NSCAA, American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA). Sanderson and Yeagley are the NSCAA representatives, while AYSO will honor Marilyn McDonald and Joel Mark. NISOA will recognize standout referees John Buckley and Don Dennison.
Saturday's activities will include a golf tournament at the Oneonta Country Club, the AYSO Future Famers Tournament on the fields of the NSHOF campus, a referee clinic by NISOA Hall of Fame member John Van de Vaarst and a coaches' clinic taught by NSCAA Senior Academy Staff member George Perry of Monmouth College. At 4:30 p.m., Hall of Fame members in attendance will take part in an autograph session at the entrance to the Hall. The evening's events begin with a reception in the Hall's Atrium at 6 p.m., with dinner in the Museum at 7 p.m. The formal enshrinement ceremonies will follow at 8 p.m., again in the Hall's Atrium.
The weekend's activities culminate on Sunday, with the induction of University of North Carolina women's coach Anson Dorrance and former U.S. Men's National Team member Hugo Perez into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. The ceremony gets underway at noon at the Museum, with the Hall of Fame luncheon at the NSHOF Tent at 1:30 p.m.
