It's Tuesday and you know what that means, a brand new episode of Off the Pitch: The Official NSCAA Podcast.
What better way to mark Ian Barker's first day at the NSCAA National Office than to have him on the pod.. In case you did not know, Ian Barker is the NSCAA's new Director of Coaching Education and it was a privilege to get to know him via our hour long conversation.
Barker joins the NSCAA staff after serving as the men’s soccer coach at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., a position he assumed in 2003 after four years as an assistant coach for the squad. He also has collegiate coaching experience at the University of Wisconsin, where he was an assistant coach for the men’s team from 1989-97, helping the Badgers to four NCAA tournament appearances in a five-year span. The 1995 team won the Big 10 title and claimed the NCAA national championship. (Read more from our press release)
During our chat, I got his take on a wide variety of coaching topics, including educating volunteer coaching, growing NSCAA courses in new locations and discussing long terms views on how the NSCAA will evolve our education offerings in the years to come.
I'm sure this will be the first of many times you'll hear Coach Barker on the podcast.
We here at the NSCAA are proud to welcome Coach Barker to the NSCAA family. I hope you enjoy the show.
Ryan's note: Apparently Call Recorder cut out at minute 58 of our conversation, right before we ended our chat. Hence the drop off at the end.
