The National, Advanced National and Premier Diploma courses are designed for coaches with a more advanced level of experience in the game. The National and Advanced National are offered both in a week-long, residential format, and also over a two-weekend, non-residential format. The Premier is only offered in a week-long format and the Master Coach Program is 18 months in duration. Be sure to review each course description to see which course is right for you. |National||The overall objective of the National Diploma is to acquaint the coach with the needs of soccer players and provide an organized and progressive methodology of coaching those needs. Basic technical and tactical knowledge is the central theme of the course in a 6 vs. 6 model. |Advanced National||The Advanced National Diploma emphasis is on training those players within a team concept designed to produce a successful environment. The 8 vs. 8 model is the main focus. The curriculum includes team organization and training, advanced methodology, analysis and understanding systems of play, a focus on tactics within thirds of the field, technical position overviews, match analysis and the psychological aspect of coaching.||45 hours instruction, 6 hours evaluation||Yes|
|Premier||The Premier Diploma is the pinnacle of the Residential Academy offerings. The course content includes a thorough examination of different systems of play, including: technical and tactical implications; 11 vs. 11 topics, including coaching in the game, phase play and shadow play; nutrition; sportsmanship/ethics; and a leadership component including team management, personal development and the coach’s role in game development in his/her community.||45 hours instruction, 6 hours evaluation||Yes|
|Master Coach||The Master Coach Diploma builds upon the 150 hours of field and classroom learning contained in the NSCAA National, Advanced National, and Premier Diploma courses. All coaches in the program will have the opportunity to learn and grow in fields such as sport psychology, leadership, team and organizational management, use of technology and nutrition.||18 Months||Yes|
|Master's Degree||The Patton College of Education at Ohio University and the NSCAA developed master's track in Recreation and Sport Science with a concentration in Soccer Coaching. This curriculum is the first of its kind in the United States, and the program faculty is now accepting applications for its first cohort of students. This unique degree program will be delivered in an online format with two face-to-face residencies. Ohio University will admit two cohorts per year, one in January and one in June.||2 Years||Yes|
