M.S. in Recreation and Sport Sciences: Soccer Coaching Track

The Patton College of Education at Ohio University and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) are pleased to announce the availability of a new master's track in Recreation and Sport Science with a concentration in Soccer Coaching. This curriculum is the first of its kind in the United States, and the program faculty is now accepting applications for its first cohort of students. This unique degree program will be delivered in an online format with two face-to-face residencies. Ohio University will admit two cohorts per year, one in January and one in June.
The program will begin in June 2013 with the opening residency taking place on the Ohio University campus in Athens, OH. Specific dates will be announced as soon as they become available. Interested applicants can apply NOW for each of the first four cohorts.

Ohio University's Recreation and Sport Pedagogy Department is a leader in the field of coaching education. The faculty has offered a campus-based program since 2001 and an online program since 2008. These programs currently enroll approximately 230 students.
Dr. David Carr, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Coaching Education at Ohio University, has played a key role in the coordination and curriculum development of the program. He has received strong support in this work from Mr. Ian Barker, NSCAA Director of Coaching Education, and Dr. Doug Williamson, NSCAA Assistant Director of Coaching Education.
Students will work in each course with faculty who are content experts and who have extensive coaching experience. Because of the online delivery of the program and the way residencies are organized, students in the program can continue to live, work, and coach in their communities while completing their master's degree.
Qualifications for this master's degree program, the application produre, and other pertinent information can be found by clicking on the links located on the right-hand side of this page, or at the NSCAA website.
