NSCAA Introduces Level 1 - 6 Diploma Courses

For those who planned on taking an NSCAA course and were somewhat confused as to what to take, the NSCAA has heard your cries.

Launching this fall are the Level 1 through 6 coaching courses, which are the redesigned Youth and Junior Level diploma courses.  In the new system each course is dedicated to a specific coaching level with its own goals and time commitments.

“We were receiving a lot of questions from course attendees about which course to take and when, so this new system will hopefully answer those questions,” Ian Barker, Director of Coaching Education, said. “We’re hoping this streamlines the process for coaches so they are getting exactly what they want from a particular course.”

Below is the newly designed Coaching Course Menu that organizes each of our coures into "type" and is intended to help you quickly identify the course that is right for you. High School, College and Youth Coaches are encouraged to visit their individual coaching education pages to see which courses we recommend for your level.

The Level 1 (for U6-U8) and 2 (for U8-U10) courses focus on coaching philosophy, child development and age-appropriate activities. The Level 3 course focuses on team training and coach management for the “novice team coach.”

The Level 4 and 5 courses are closely tied together Level 4 focuses on technique with the role of a coach and creating plans, while Level 5 builds on that adding the tactical principles. The Level 6 course combines technical, tactical and practice principles, and is a preparatory course for the National Diploma.

The new course format will be effective immediately. Those who are already signed up for courses can expect no change to their curriculum.

“We are not changing what you will learn in each course; we are just clearing up when you learn it and what you need to take next,” Barker adds.

Also, make sure to note that we have changed our navigation features to include "Coaching Courses" and "Course Information" to help you find courses quickly and easily. See the images below to reference these changes.
