From Lang Wedemeyer, NSCAA Premier Diploma, USSF A Licence Coach on Soccer Conditioning, "One of the books I was given was Conditioning for Soccer by Dr. Raymond Verheijen. This book has changed my way of thinking to the point that now, instead of general strength, I lean more toward specific strength and an economical way of training our soccer players during the season. Now they are getting strength based training utilizing KNVB techniques and tactics, including the psychological aspects, at one time. For instance, this season we probably won't go in the weight room at all but rather we will do a lot of on the field economical things where the players have to use agility, balance and coordination in combination with strength, but always with a ball involved. That is how our philosophy has changed from previous years.
