Speaker: Club Tactical Development was created by the NSCAA as a tool designed to to help clubs go beyond just participation and become clubs with a connection that is stronger than just the same team name and uniform.
To be considered a club, there should be technical and tactical connections in which what happens in one age group transfers to what happens in another age group.
The Club tactical development system taught by the NSCAA aims to integrate the teaching of ideas that carryout through different age groups of a club.
One of the concepts behind the NSCAA club development program is that of team shape, meaning the placement of players on the field.
Jeff Tipping: One of the shapes that we look at is the diamond shape in the 5 vs. 5. The diamond shape gives us the possibility of passing the ball vertically forward or sideways, or backwards. You can teach different concepts using different shapes so shape has a very important place in teaching.
Speaker: In this club development system the focus is on teaching the individual player the responsibilities and possibilities of the positions in the diamond in such a manner so that as the player becomes older and the number of players on the side increases, the basic concepts of the diamond shape remains the same.
This progression from the basic 5 v 5 game to the full field 11 vs. 11 game provides a blueprint for clubs to prepare their players for the challenges of each level of play.
