I agree with Jeff except it pertains only to the top 1% of players that may go pro in the future. Otherwise you are depriving a child of their HS years, their interactions with friends and putting a travel onus on the children. Also other sports contribute to overall ability on a soccer pitch. I have a former teammate who's daughter was on a national junior team; they told her she had to quit HS soccer, basketball and track to be in the developmental pool. The parents refused, she became her state's leading scorer(both sexes) in soccer, won championships in soccer and basketball and set records in track. Also she got a full boat to a prestigious US college with a great women's program. Maybe Tony and the rest of the US staff thinks this will work for men but it won't work for women and is not necessary.
