MLS and European Leagues
I am interested in people's opinions about the following questions.
Is US soccer stronger for MLS players developing and moving to European leagues? Players like Geoff Cameron and Roger Espinoza.
Is US soccer stronger for the influence of players coming to the MLS from European leagues? Players like Tim Cahill and Robbie Keane.
For sure US Soccer is likely stronger for both the imports and exports. My interest is in what people think are the good things about these moves for soccer here.

I think the Euro players bring awareness and skill that will attract the casual fan. I'm in NJ, and Thierry Henry has done exactly that - he brings excitement and ability to the game that the average MLS player can't.
I'm not sure that it works as well the other way. Granted, Dempsey was MLS, as were Shea, Cameron, et al, but I think US players should immediately try Europe. I know there is a stigma that makes it a hard path, but I believe the environment has changed a lot and more opps exist for Americans in Europe.
Now, if you really want to change the MLS / US landscape? Get Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho to COACH a team here. I believe once the US players are exposed to different styles of play, they will elevate their abilities such that the transition to Europe won't be as difficult. I think Klinsmann has done an admirable job with the USMNT, but we need more.
That would also lead to a trickle down at the youth level. I'm waiting for my chance to be a mentee to Pep!!!
