Junior College Players of the Year Unveiled

Prolific scorers who hold either a single-season or career scoring record for their respective schools have been selected as the 2004 NSCAA/adidas Junior College Players of the Year.
Dane Richards of San Jacinto Junior College, Ismael Ibarra of Hartnell College, Melissa Hornfeck of Monroe Community College and Kristin Childers of Long Beach City College will be honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America at its All-America Luncheon on Saturday, Jan. 15, held in conjunction with the annual NSCAA Convention.
Junior College Division I Men - Dane Richards, Montego Bay, Jamaica, San Jacinto Junior College
As a sophomore, Richards tallied 25 goals and 14 assists, breaking the San Jacinto career scoring record by nine goals. A two-time NSCAA/adidas All-America, he posted 20 goals and eight assists in his freshman season, giving him a total of 45 goals and 17 assists for 112 career points. A product of Cornwall College High School in Montego Bay, Jamaica, he earned three caps for the Jamaican senior national team in 2002 and two more with the nation’s U-20 team in 2000.
Junior College Division III Men - Ismael Ibarra, Salinas, Calif., Hartnell College
Ibarra’s 28 goals and 15 assists gave him a total of 71 points this season, as he led the Panthers to their first appearance in the California state championship. He had two-goal outings in three of the first five games of the season and ended with 10 multiple-goal games, including a pair of hat tricks. He is the first Hartnell player to earn NSCAA/adidas All-America honors in successive years and closes his collegiate career with a total of 57 goals scored.
Junior College Division I Women - Melissa Hornfeck, Anne Arundel, Md., Monroe Community College
Hornfeck helped lead Monroe Community College to a national title as a freshman. She scored 32 goals and 12 assists, breaking the MCC single-season scoring record and powering her team to an undefeated season of 22-0-1. The Region III Player of the Year, she also was named Offensive Player of the Tournament and to the all-tournament team at the national tournament.
Junior College Division III Women - Kristin Childers, Bellflower, Calif., Long Beach City College
A sophomore from Bellflower, Calif., Childers has earned first-team NSCAA/adidas All-America honors for the past two years. This season she led the Vikings with 42 points, scoring a team-high 17 goals to go along with eight assists. She also was named South Coast Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season as LBCC finished the season with a 20-0-1 record and a ranking of No. 5 in the final NSCAA/adidas national rankings. As a freshman in 2003, Childers scored a school-record 37 goals and had nine assists.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
