Five College Cup Participants Earn 2006 NSCAA/adidas Men's Division I All-America

The 2006 NCAA Men’s College Cup will showcase the talents of five members of the 2006 NSCAA/adidas Men’s Division I All-America Team.

UC Santa Barbara placed two players on the list --  Eric Avila (Encintas, Calif.) and Andy Iro (Liverpool, England). UCLA was represented by Sal Zizzo (San Diego, Calif.), while Wake Forest’s Julian Valentin (Lancaster, Pa.)  and Virginia’s Nico Colaluca (Coventry, R.I.) earned the honor.

In addition to UC Santa Barbara—four other institutions—Maryland, Notre Dame, SMU and West Virginia--placed two players each on the list of 37 honorees. Maryland had a first team selection in Maurice Edu (Fontana, Calif.) and a third team selection in Chris Seitz (San Luis Obispo, Calif.). Notre Dame had two players earn first team honors—Gregory Dalby (Poway, Calif.) and M.A.C. Hermann trophy finalist Joseph Lapira (Lake Charles, Calif.). SMU was represented by M.A.C. Hermann trophy finalist Jay Needham (Fort Worth, Texas) on the first team and Bruno Guarda (Cedar Hill, Texas) on the third team. West Virginia’s Nick Noble (Damascus, Md.) was a first team selection, while Jarrod Smith (Havelock, New Zealand) earned second team accolades.

The honorees will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, as part of the 2007 NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
