Lewis Doubles in 2006 NSCAA Writing Contest

Writing for two separate media outlets, veteran soccer journalist Michael Lewis has claimed two awards in the 2006 NSCAA Writing Contest. Awards also went to Soccer America’s Mike Woitalla, Maria Burns of ESPN.com and Michael Sanserino of the Indiana (University) Daily Student.

Lewis claimed awards in both the Deadline/Game Story and Non-Deadline/Feature categories. His three stories covering the breaking news of the purchase of the New York Red Bulls for BigAppleSoccer.com earned the Deadline honors, while his article “Football Player and Pastor” for FIFA Magazine was the winner in the Feature category.

Woitalla returns to the list of recognized writers, while Burns and Sanserino both are first-time winners.
