Heather O’Reilly (North Carolina/East Brunswick, N.J.) is the headliner for a star-studded list of players who have been named to the 2006 NSCAA/adidas Women’s College Scholar All-America Team

O’Reilly caps a championship season by earning the NSCAA/adidas Women’s Scholar Athlete of the Year award. The senior forward recently completed her collegiate career by leading the Tar Heels to the NCAA Division I title. A four-time NSCAA/adidas All-America, O’Reilly was a two-time finalist for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, a member of the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and has earned 46 caps for the U.S. Women’s National Team. All the while, she’s maintained a 3.40 grade point average in middle grades education.

She was one of 12 players to double their honors, also being named to the NSCAA/adidas All-America this season. Seven of those players, all first-team Scholar All-America selections, appear on the University (Division I) Division team. The College Division team, comprised of players completing at all other levels of intercollegiate play, was introduced last year. Notre Dame, which advanced to the Division I national championship game, led all schools with three players: seniors Kim Lorenzen (Naperville, Ill.), Christie Shaner (Ambler, Pa.) and Jen Buczkowski (Elk Grove, Ill.).

The honorees were invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which was held on Saturday, Jan. 13, as part of the 2007 NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
