Jenna Billingsley (Denver/Littleton, Colo.) and Todd Goddard (Tulsa/Tulsa, Okla.) each lifted their teams to victory over ranked opponents to earn NSCAA National Player of the Week honors for Sept. 26.

Billingsley nailed the game-winning goal to hand No. 1 Stanford its first loss of the season, while Goddard tallied two goals in Tulsa’s 3-1 road victory over No. 7 Creighton for the Bluejays’ first loss this year.

Each week, a male and female player is selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players are announced each Wednesday afternoon until Nov. 1 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also are recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches. This week features a battle between ranked women’s teams on Thursday, Sept. 27, as No. 12 South Carolina (8-1-0) travels to Knoxville to face No. 10 Tennessee (5-1-1) at 8 p.m. ET. Friday’s match is a key ACC clash with No. 7 Duke (6-2-0) facing Clemson (3-4-1), also at 8 p.m. ET.

Billingsley scored the game-winning goal with just under four minutes to play Sunday as Denver shocked Stanford, which was undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the NSCAA/adidas poll. It was Billingsley’s second goal of the weekend, as she also provided Denver’s goal against Drake on Friday. Two of Billingsley’s five goals this season have been game-winners. Billingsley leads the Pioneers with 11 points.

Todd Goddard
F, Sr., University of Tulsa, Tulsa, Okla.

Goddard scored two goals in the Golden Hurricane’s 3-1 victory on the road at No. 7 Creighton on Saturday night, handing the Bluejays first loss of the season. A little over 16 minutes into the second half, Goddard tied the game off a long pass from senior Eric Burkholder. After Burkholder put TU on top in the 75th minute after picking off a CU pass, sophomore Daniel Dittus slid a pass to Goddard who tapped in a goal from inside the box in the 87th minute. With the win, Tulsa improved to 5-2 and moved the Golden Hurricane into 23rd in the NSCAA/adidas national rankings, Goddard leads TU and Conference USA with six goals, including two game-winning goals, and ranks second in C-USA with 12 points.
