Brittney Steinbruch (University of Miami/Wyckoff, N.J.) and Stefan Hock (Virginia Tech/Aschaffenburg, Germany) have earned NSCAA National Player of the Week honors for Oct. 3, giving the Atlantic Coast Conference a sweep of this week’s awards.
Steinbruch led the Hurricanes with a pair of game-winning goals in victories over North Carolina State and North Carolina last week, while Hock tallied the equalizer in the Hokies’ road draw at Virginia, extending their unbeaten streak to nine games.
Each week, a male and female player is selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players are announced each Wednesday afternoon until Nov. 1 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also are recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches.
This week will feature three games, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 3, when reigning men’s national champion and No. 18 UC Santa Barbara plays host to UC Irvine at 11 p.m. ET. Women’s action takes center stage on Thursday, Oct. 4 as No. 6 Texas A&M travels to Stillwater, Okla., to face No. 22 Oklahoma State in a Big XII clash beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Friday, Oct. 5, will see Clemson at Maryland in an ACC match-up, also at 8 p.m. ET.
Brittney Steinbruch
F, Fr., Miami, Wyckoff, N.J.
Steinbruch was tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after helping the Hurricanes emerge from conference play last weekend with an unblemished 2-0 mark. She recorded a pair of game-winning goals and one assist in matches against NC State and defending national champion North Carolina. In the 2-1 victory against NC State last Thursday, the forward registered an assist on the first Hurricane goal and then knocked in the game-winner. A few days later, Steinbruch followed up with a golden goal as Miami upset No. 7 North Carolina 1-0 on Sunday. Steinbruch currently leads the ACC in shots (64), shots per game (6.40) and game-winning goals (4). She also ranks second in the league in points, points per game, goals and goals per game.
Stefan Hock
F, Jr., Virginia Tech, Aschaffenburg, Germany
Hock was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week after scoring the game-tying goal at No. 5 Virginia Friday night in Klockner Stadium in order to extend the No. 9 Hokies’ unbeaten streak to eight matches. The Hokies' eight-match unbeaten streak is the second-longest streak in school history, trailing only a 9-0-1 stretch in 2005. Hock had three quality scoring chances within the last 20 minutes of the first half and capitalized on his third and final opportunity in the 34th minute. Junior forward Robert Edmans nailed a cross at the top right of the box that found Hock in stride 10 yards from the net for his team-high fourth goal of the season at 11:18. The Aschaffenburg, Germany, native is currently tied for fifth among ACC players for goals (4) and is ranked eighth for shots with 23 in nine games.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
