Aline Reis (Central Florida/Campinas, Brazil) and Steffen Vroom (DePaul/Libertyville, Ill.) have earned NSCAA National Player of the Week honors for Sept. 16.
Reis led the Golden Knights to a pair of shutout wins, including a victory over No. 4 Florida State, while Vroom scored three goals to propel DePaul to three wins, including two over top-10 teams in the NSCAA national rankings.
Each week, a male and female player will be selected from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players will be announced each Wednesday afternoon from now until Nov. 11 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also will be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches. This week’s broadcasts will feature a pair of Beantown derbies. On Friday, Sept. 18, No. 14 Boston University (3-1-1) will host Boston College (2-3) for an 8 p.m. ET men’s match. The women’s portion of the schedule kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 20, when Boston University (2-3-2) hosts No. 6 Boston College (6-0).

Reis helped the Knights to two consecutive shutout wins on the week, including a 1-0 shutout over No. 4 Florida State on Thursday. In the game against the Seminoles, Reis posted nine saves while playing 104:59 minutes in goal. The sophomore followed up that performance on Sunday afternoon with one save against USF, while playing all 90 minutes for the Knights. Reis has been credited with three of UCF's five shutouts this season.
Steffen Vroom
F, Sr., DePaul, Libertyville, Ill.
Vroom led the Blue Demons to a 3-0 record last week, including wins over two top 25 teams. He tallied seven points on three goals and one assist while being named the MVP of the Marquette Invitational after DePaul went 2-0 over the weekend. He scored the first goal in three straight games, including in wins over then-No. 9 Northwestern on Sept. 7 and then-No. 9 UC-Irvine on Sept. 11 – the first day of the Marquette Invitational. He also added a goal and an assist in the Blue Demon’s 5-1 win over Buffalo in the final day of the invite. This is Vroom’s second selection as the NSCAA National Player of the Week after being chosen last October.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
