Big East Conference Battle, Non-Conference Clash Higlight NSCAA College Game of the Week

The Big East Conference takes center stage in the first of two games in this week's NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel.

The men's game features Connecticut (5-2-2) heading to Morgantown, W.Va., to face West Virginia (5-2-2) on Friday (Oct. 9). Kickoff for the live broadcast at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Connecticut enters the match fresh off a 4-0 shutout of Providence. Sophomore midfielder Tony Cascio scored twice and registered six points for the Huskies, while junior goalkeeper Josh Ford recorded his fourth straight shutout and seventh clean sheet of the season. West Virginia battled Pittsburgh to a 0-0 tie in its last contest. The Mountaineers led by sophomore midfielder Alex Silva's two goals, while junior goalkeeper Zach Johnson has notched six shutouts. Connecticut holds an 11-4-2 series advantage, but West Virginia has won three straight, including back-to-back 1-0 victories on FSC.

This week's women's contest finds Loyola-Chicago of the Horizon League (3-9-2) heading to College Station, Texas, to face 17th-ranked Texas A&M  (7-4-1) of the Big 12 Conference. The game at Aggie Soccer Stadium will be televised live at 5 p.m. CT/2 p.m. PT.

Loyola-Chicago enters the weekend's play after battling Cleveland State to a 0-0 tie. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Groesch posted her fifth shutout of the campaign. Texas A&M also posted a tie in its last match, a 4-4 draw versus Missouri. Junior midfielder Rachel Shipley, the Aggies' assists leader, tallied four points in the game. Texas A&M also boasts two players that are on the 2009 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List--junior goalkeeper Kristin Arnold and sophmore defender Bri Young.
