Brittney Lyman (Colorado College/Arvada, Colo.) and Tim Ritter (Providence/Weston, Mass.) have been named the NSCAA National Players of the Week for Nov. 4.

Lyman scored five goals in the second half to lead her team to a comeback 5-2 win over Texas-El Paso and earn a first-round bye in the Conference USA tournament, while Ritter notched a pair of game-winning goals for critical Big East road victories..

Each week, a male and female player will be selected from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players will be announced each Wednesday afternoon from now until Nov. 11 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also will be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches.

This week features a pair of Battles by the Bay as the Santa Clara men’s team (4-9-4) plays host to area rival San Francisco (6-8-1) in an 11 p.m. ET start. On Sunday, the women’s portion of the broadcast schedule wraps up in grand style as No. 1 Stanford (19-0-0) puts its unblemished season on the line in a Pac-10 clash with California (10-7-1) starting at 5 p.m. ET.

Brittney Lyman
F, Fr., Colorado College, Arvada, Colo.

Lyman scored five goals in the second half to lead the Colorado College to a come-from-behind, 5-2 victory over Texas-El Paso. Her effort set a conference record for most goals in a single game and is the top total nationally in NCAA Division I play this season. She took nine shots altogether and received assists from four different teammates. With the win, the Tigers earned a first-round bye in the 2009 C-USA Championship. Lyman now leads the team with nine goals and 19 points heading into the post-season.

Tim Ritter
F, Sr., Providence, Weston, Mass.

Ritter led Providence to two keys wins last week, scoring both game-winning goals in overtime at West Virginia and at Georgetown. At West Virginia on Wednesday, the senior forward scored the lone goal 2:31 into the first overtime period, slotting the ball past a Mountaineer keeper for the win. At Georgetown on Saturday, Ritter put the game away 2:56 into the overtime period by heading in a serve from the middle of the goal box. His two big goals helped Providence lock down the No. 5 seed out of the Big East Blue Division in the 2009 Big East Men’s Soccer Championship.
