2009 Awards Recognize Four for Long-Term Service to Soccer

The NSCAA recognized four members for their long-term contributions to soccer during the Association's annual Awards Banquet, held Jan. 15, 2010, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown in conjunction with the 2010 NSCAA Convention.
Former Seattle Pacific University coach Cliff McCrath received the Bill Jeffrey Award for long-term service to intercollegiate soccer. Mario Gerhardt of Chagrin Falls (Ohio) High School was presented the Robert W. Robinson Award for contributions to interscholastic soccer. Nick Zlatar received the Youth Long-Term Service Award, which has been renamed the Charlotte Moranb Award in memory of the late executive director of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association. David Saward of Middlebury College was recognized for his contributions to the NSCAA's coaching education program with the Mike Bertlcelli Excellence in Coaching Education Award.
Bill Jeffrey Award – C. Cliff McCrath
McCrath fashioned a 597-233-95 record in 49 years as a collegiate head coach. In 38 years at Seattle Pacific, he posted a 512-190-87 record, made 30 NCAA Tournament appearances and claimed five national titles. His 37 consecutive winning seasons there set an NCAA Division II record. He received the NSCAA Honor Award in 1985. Currently the executive director of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association, he also has served for a number of years as secretary-editor of the NCAA Soccer Rules Committee.
Robert W. Robinson Award – Mario Gerhardt
The Chagrin Falls High School boys coach since launching the program in 1971, Gerhardt has a career record of 452-224-85 and holds the Ohio state record for coaching victories. Along the way he has won 16 conference championships, three regional titles and a trip to the 2003 state finals. A four-time Ohio State Coach of the Year, he was named NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year in 2004. The first secretary/treasurer of the Ohio State Soccer Coaches Association, he was instrumental in getting soccer sanctioned as a high school sport and helped organize the first state tournament.
Charlotte Moran Youth Long-Term Service Award – Nick Zlatar
Zlatar was one of coaches who developed the first USSF “D” license course, helping pave the way for soccer coaching education in the the United States. He focused his energies into coaching education, believing it to be the quickest way to develop players. He served as Eastern New York’s Director of Coaching until 2000 and spent 25 years in the same role for the Staten Island Soccer League, which he helped establish.
Mike Berticelli Excellence in Coaching Education Award – David Saward
The men’s soccer coach at Middlebury College since 1985, Saward served on the NSCAA Board of Directors for five years beginning in 1990. In 1995, he was appointed to the National Staff of the NSCAA’s Coaching Education program. A six-time NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year, he earned National Coach of the Year recognition when his team claimed the NCAA title in 2007. Vermont’s State Coaching Director since 1992, Saward was presented the New England Soccer Association’s Service Award in 1993.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
