Adam LaPlaca (Glastonbury HS/Glastonbury, Conn.) was named the 2009 NSCAA/adidas Boys High School Scholar Athlete of the Year and three schools each placed two players on the 2009 NSCAA/adidas Boys High School Scholar All-America Team.

LaPlaca, a goalkeeper, led his team to a 37-2-2 record and the state finals each of the last two years. A two-time all-conference, all-state and NSCAA All-Region selection, he also received NSCAA/adidas High School All-America recognition. He has maintained a 4.49 grade point average and will attend the University of Notre Dame next fall.

Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, S.C., Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., and The Pennington School in Pennington, N.J., each had two players named to the squad.

The NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America selections were recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, held in Philadelphia, Pa., on Jan. 16 as part of the 2010 NSCAA Convention.
