New Names, Same Quality Coaching Education

Effective April 1, 2010, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has adopted a new system for identifying its non-residential courses. This change was adopted to more clearly show the progressive structure of the courses and the progression path to advance through the NSCAA Academy.
Below is a summary of the new course names, pairing them with the former names and giving a thumbnail summary of the course's content. For further information, please visit the Non-Residential Course Information page.

| Youth Level I Diploma | Parent Coach Diploma | 2.5 | Coaching players 4-8 years playing the game for the first time. |
| Youth Level II Diploma | State Diploma | 5 | Coachng players 5-10 years; introduces field sessions and organizing practices. |
| Youth Level III Diploma | Youth Diploma | 13 | For more advanced coaches working with U-6 through U-9 teams. Explores the coach as a facilitator, using the game to teach technique. |
| Youth Level IV Diploma | Advanced Youth Diploma | 21 | For more advanced coaches working with U-9 through U-12 teams. Introduces the coaching in the game and progressive teaching methods. |
| Junior Level V Diploma | Regional Diploma | 13 | Coaching players 11 to 18 years. Focuses on basic methods of coaching and teaching proper technique and introduces the theory and application of tactics and team management |
| Junior Level VI Diploma | Advanced Regional Diploma | 21 | A supplement to the Junior Level V Diploma, this course explores systems of play and using small-sided games. |

GOALKEEPING

| Goalkeeping Level I Diploma | State Goalkeeping Diploma | 6 | Designed to give the team coach the tools to evaluate goalkeeper performance in game situations and design training sessions. |
| Goalkeeping Level II Diploma | Regional Goalkeeping Diploma | 12 | Helps the coach create an optimal learning environment within the team for this specialized position. |
| Goalkeeping Level III Diploma | National Goalkeeping Diploma | 18 | Builds upon the information from the prior two levels and introduces discussion of the tactical role of the goalkeeper within the team. |

Good idea to acknowledge UEFA right at the conclusion of the club season. If the Euros have the drama of this year's UCL it should be a great month of international soccer in June.
