Kristen Mewis (Boston College/Hanson, Mass.) and Anthony Ampaipitakwong (Akron/Carrollton, Texas) led their teams to wins over nationally-ranked opponents to claim NSCAA National Player of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 29.
Mewis sparked BC to its first victory over a No. 1 team with a goal and an assist on the road against North Carolina, while Ampaipitakwong helped the Zips tighten their hold on the top spot in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com rankings with a 4-0 domination of No. 2 Tulsa.
Each week, a male and female player will be selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players will be announced each Wednesday afternoon from now until Nov. 3 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also will be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches. This Friday offers a men’s/women’s doubleheader. Leading off is an ACC men’s battle as No. 9 Duke (4-1-2) travels to No. 8 Maryland (4-2-1) for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff. At 11 p.m. ET, the South Carolina women’s side will put its No. 20 ranking on the line when Mississippi comes to call in Columbia.
Kristen Mewis

Mewis led the Eagles to a historic moment for the program with its defeat of top-ranked North Carolina on the road Thursday as she scored the game-tying goal and then assisted on the game-winner in the second half. It marked BC's first win over UNC in 12 matches and the first time BC has defeated a No. 1-ranked team. Mewis then scored the game-winning goal in the fourth-ranked Eagles' 1-0 victory at NC State on Sunday. It was her second game-winning goal of the season. Mewis is in the midst of an eight-game point-scoring streak, which ties the Boston College school record set by Kia McNeill in 2006. Mewis ranks second among BC players in scoring this season with six goals and eight assists for 20 points.

The senior midfielder assisted Darren Mattocks on a corner kick for UA's third goal of the night in the 50th minute before finishing a rebound from Darlington Nagbe for his second goal of the season in the 70th.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
