Alyssa Mautz (Texas A&M/O’Fallon, Mo.) propelled Texas A&M to victories over a pair of ranked opponents to gain NSCAA National Player of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 1.

The senior midfielder scored four of the Aggies’ six goals last week as they notched victories over No. 16 Virginia Tech, 5-3, and No. 24 Washington State, 1-0. She had the game-winning goal in both contests and now leads the Big 12 Conference with 10 points this season. The wins pushed Texas A&M into the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings top 10, jumping from 11th to ninth in the latest poll.

Each week, a male and female player will be selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players will be announced each Wednesday afternoon from now until Nov. 3 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also will be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches. This season’s opening game on Friday, Sept. 3, turns the spotlight to the Palmetto State, where Clemson will travel to Columbia, S.C., to face regional rival South Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
