Macky Wingo (Charlotte/Raleigh, N.C.) and Brad Stuver (Cleveland State/Twinsburg, Ohio) logged solid performances to boost their teams to victory, earning the final NSCAA National Player of the Week selections for the 2010 season.
Wingo’s five-goal performance propelled Charlotte to a share of the Atlantic-10 regular-season title, while Stuver came up big in Cleveland State’s upset of undefeated and No. 1-ranked Akron.
Each week, a male and female player are selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players are announced each Wednesday afternoon through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also are recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches.
The 2010 NSCAA College Game of the Week season concludes with a Friday evening doubleheader, led off by a men’s contest as UAB travels to Memphis for an 8 p.m. ET start. At 11 p.m. ET, No. 13 Oregon State will be in Palo Alto, Calif., to square off against No. 1 Stanford in a key Pac-10 women’s match.
Macky Wingo
M, Jr., Charlotte, Raleigh, N.C.
Wingo scored five goals in two games last week to lead Charlotte to a pair of wins over Saint Joseph’s and Temple and a share of the A-10 regular season title. She opened the weekend with her first career hat trick as the 49ers defeated Saint Joseph’s on the road 5-1. The hat trick was the 11th in school history, while Wingo became the third student-athlete in the A-10 this year to score three goals in a match. She followed that performance with two more goals against Temple in a 7-0 shutout victory over the Owls. She registered both game-winning goals for Charlotte last weekend.
Brad Stuver
K, So., Cleveland State, Twinsburg, Ohio
Before 1,877 fans at Krenzler Field on Saturday, Stuver stood tall in goal for the Vikings, turning aside five shots in Cleveland State’s 2-1 victory over No. 1 Akron. Akron entered the match as one of three undefeated teams in the country and had scored 42 goals on the year. The Vikings handed the Zips their first regular-season defeat since 2008. The lone goal scored against Stuver came on a penalty kick that just eluded Stuver, who guessed the correct side of the net but arrived late. For the match, Cleveland State was outshot, 12-6, with seven Akron shots finding their way on frame.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
