George Perry, the men’s soccer coach at Monmouth College (Ill.), has been selected to serve as the Interim Director of Education and Coaching Development for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA.) The appointment was announced by the Executive Committee of the NSCAA Board of Directors.

“George Perry is a natural selection for this position,” said NSCAA CEO and Executive Director Joe Cummings. “His extensive background gives him a solid foundation to work from during this critical transition period for our Coaching Academy. His experience and familiarity with our coaching education programs will ensure continuity as we move forward.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with George Perry as a National staff coach during the past 13 years,” said NSCAA President Paul Payne, the men’s soccer coach at Bloomsburg (Pa.) University. “George is uniquely qualified to continue the mission of the NSCAA coaching education programs in the role of Interim Director of Education and Coaching Development. He has earned the respect and loyalty of his peers through 27 years of dedicated service to our coaching education program.”

“I’m honored to be entrusted with the leadership of our coaching education program during this time of change,” said Perry. “Jeff Tipping did a tremendous job of growing the scope of our educational efforts, and I’m looking forward to working with the outstanding team we’ve gathered to maintain the standard of excellence set by the NSCAA.”

A member of the NSCAA’s coaching education staff since 1984, Perry currently serves as Vice President of Education on the NSCAA Board of Directors and has oversight of the Association’s educational efforts. He has been the men’s coach at Monmouth since 2006. He began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, Indiana University, before accepting the men’s head coaching position at the University of Rochester in 1983. He has held similar positions at St. Bonaventure University and Wabash College and has served as an Olympic Development Program coach in New York, Indiana and Illinois.

In 2003, Perry was the fourth recipient of the NSCAA’s Mike Berticelli Excellence in Coaching Education Award for outstanding performance in soccer coaching education. He has contributed to a variety of NSCAA projects, including several instructional DVDs and the book “The Soccer Coaching Bible.”
