Lexi Kopf (UC Irvine/Sonora, Calif.) scored two game-winning goals last weekend and as a result earned Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week honors for Aug. 24.
The senior forward attempted only two shots in a pair of games at the Texas A&M Invitational, but she made them both count as each was the difference in wins over Texas-San Antonio and No. 11 Texas A&M. The wins advanced UCI from No. 17 to No. 13 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire rankings.
Each week, a male and female player will be selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players will be announced each Wednesday afternoon from now until Nov. 8 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also will be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches. This season’s opening game on Friday, Aug. 26, turns the spotlight to the Palmetto State, where No. 15 South Carolina travels to the College of Charleston for an intrastate men’s clash. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.

Kopf provided the game-winning goal in both Anteater victories over Texas-San Antonio and Texas A&M. She took a total of two shots in UCI’s wins against UTSA (2-1) and No. 11 Texas A&M (1-0), making both of them count. She netted the game-winner in the 88th minute of the season-opener against UTSA. Against the host Aggies in their own Texas A&M Invitational, the Anteaters struck early on a goal from Kopf in the eighth minute. The lead held up as UCI withstood 21 shots from the Aggies and 100 degree weather.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
