Lindsay Taylor (Stanford/Los Altos, Calif.) and Tim Hopkinson (Old Dominion/Nottingham, England) recorded impressive outings against nationally-ranked foes to earn Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week honors for Sept. 14.
Taylor propelled the Cardinal to victory in a rematch of last year’s NCAA title game, while Hopkinson led ODU to a pair of wins with two goals and an assist in upsets of East Tennessee State and Monmouth.
Each week, a male and female player will be selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The players will be announced each Wednesday afternoon from now until Nov. 8 through NSCAA.com, the official website of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They also will be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer, a schedule of 20 men’s and women’s intercollegiate matches. This week the women’s spotlight turns to the West Coast, where newly-minted No. 1 Stanford travels to Portland to face the Pilots in a 10 p.m. ET encounter on Thursday, Sept. 15. The following evening sees New Mexico facing reigning NCAA champion Akron at 7 p.m. ET.
Lindsay Taylor
F, Sr., Stanford, Los Altos, Calif.
Taylor led a late comeback against No. 8 Notre Dame by scoring the tying goal and assisting on the winner – both in the final 10 minutes – to lead No. 2 Stanford to a 2-1 victory in a rematch of last year’s NCAA championship final. Taylor, who leads the team with 6 goals, scored on a hard 25-yard shot that snuck just inside the right post. She then served up a corner kick to Mariah Nogueira, who headed in the winner in the 88th minute.
Tim Hopkinson
F, So., Old Dominion, Nottingham, England
Hopkinson recorded two goals and an assist as Old Dominion defeated a pair of nationally ranked opponents to win the Stihl Soccer Classic last weekend. The sophomore forward scored the Monarchs’ second goal and assisted on the third in a 4-0 victory over East Tennessee State on Friday and then had ODU’s final goal in a 3-1 triumph over No. 18 Monmouth on Sunday. Hopkinson was named to the Stihl Soccer Classic all-tournament.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
