Marc Pelosi (DeAnza Force/Sunnyvale, Calif.) has been named the 2011 NSCAA Boys Youth Player of the Year, leading a group of 40 players who have been named to the 2011 NSCAA Boys Youth All-America Team.
Pelosi has made 28 appearances for the U.S. U-17 National Team. In February he led the team into the FIFA U-17 World Cup by netting a hat trick against Honduras and scoring an overtime game-winner against El Salvador at the CONCACAF Championships in Jamaica. At the World Cup in Mexico, he served as team captain and played in all three group matches. A member of the U.S. Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla., since 2009, he signed with Liverpool FC in November.
Pelosi is one of 18 players who are repeat selections to the All-America Team. The 40 athletes will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held in the Kansas City Convention Center's Grand Ballroom on Saturday, Jan. 14, in conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
