NSCAA Convention: The Best of Panels and Roundtables

There is something for everyone at the 2012 NSCAA Convention. The Convention offers a number of sessions where attendees can learn, participate, and belong. New this year is a series of panels and roundtables covering various topics that will allow attendees to participate throughout the Convention. The panels and roundtables will include featured clinicians sharing their insights on mental, physical, technical and tactical aspects of soccer.
Thursday, Jan. 12
9:30 – 10:30 a.m. CC-2104AB: Simon Clements, Director of Exact Sports, will moderate “Develop Mental Coaching,” which is a view of mental training and development from elite coaches. The panel of elite coaches will include Anson Dorrance, North Carolina; Dr. David Masur, St. John's University; Dr. Jay Martin, Ohio Wesleyan University; Janet Rayfield, University of Illinois; Dr. Ralph Tarter, University of Pittsburgh; and Jay Vidovich, Wake Forest University.
10-11 a.m. CC-2101: The NSCAA Roundtable presents “The Talent Code Deciphered: Making Better Players Now” with four-time NAIA National Collegiate Coach of the Year Dr. Mike Giuliano of Wheaton College (Ill.). The goal of this roundtable is to explore detailed training methods that can improve player performance in a shorter period of time.
1:30-2:30 p.m. CC2101: Craig Ewing, Saint Thomas Aquinas High School (Kan.), will highlight the essential cornerstones of the Saints boys’ and girls’ soccer programs as he leads the roundtable in “Building and Maintaining a High School Soccer Program.” This roundtable will explore the activities, philosophies and ingredients that allow for a high school program’s sustainable success.
Friday, Jan. 13
9-10 a.m. CC-2102AB: Taylor Twellman, Television Analyst, Commentator and Former Professional Soccer Player, presents “The Concussion Problem.” He will be joined by Commentator and Supervising Producer of New England Revolution TV, Brad Feldman; Ruben Echemendia of MLS, and Tim Twellman, the father of Taylor Twellman.
10-11 a.m. CC-2101: Following a series of reforms over the past eight years, the German Soccer Federation (DFB) has become one of our sports’s most modern, structured and successful national governing bodies . Frank Tschan, the Regional Director for the NSCAA in Europe, will lead the roundtable “Will the reform of German Soccer work in the US?” This discussion will explore the recent path the DFB took to get where it is today, discuss key areas of its current concept and consider their potential for implementation in the United States.
1:30-3:30 p.m. CC-2101: Dave Dilanni is in his eighth season at Grand Valley State University, where he has led his team to two NCAA national titles. He will be discussing his ideas on “Creating an Environment for Competitive Greatness to Exist.”
Saturday, Jan. 14
10-11 a.m. CC-2101: Lisa Cole, coach of the WPS Boston Breakers, will discuss ways to achieve “Integrating Your Goalkeeper into Your Training Session.” Training your team and keeper together can help build the rapport needed for a strong, communicative defense. She will enlighten the group with tips from training keepers at the highest level.
11 a.m.Noon CC-2104AB: High school coaches are invited to hear the "Hot Topics in High School Soccer." The panel for this session will include: NSCAA Board of Directors Members Kevin Denson (Youth Boys), Greg Mauch (High School Boys), Kevin Sims (High School Girls) and Eric Teepe (Youth Girls) and NSCAA Academy National Staff Coach Theresa Echtermeyer.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
