On a regular basis, NSCAA will feature an article or practice plan from the Resource Library. To have your Resource Library upload featured on NSCAA.com contact Chris Burt at cburt@nscaa.com.
Today, we will highlight a coaching outline by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Director of Coaching Education Ian Barker entitled “Midfield Running into the Final 1/3rd”. This piece features how to get your midfield involved in the attack using a 4-5-1 system of play. See the Session Outline Now!
Contents:
1). 6 v. 6 warm-up drill with coaching points such as movement off the ball, identifying the defending team overplaying the ball and uses of the central midfielder.
2). A system and shape rational for the 4-5-1.
3). Two diagrams of scenarios that may occur right before the teachable moment.
4). Two diagrams to demonstrate the ball movement of this idea.
Midfield running into the Final 1/3rd has been made available for a short time for both members and non-members. This article along with hundreds more can be found in the NSCAA Resource Library at www.nscaa.com/education/library.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
