We're excited to announce that our friends at The Alliance of Women Coaches, which provides ongoing education and professional development for women in the coaching field, is hosting The Huddle, May 30-June 1 in Atlanta.

As part of The Huddle program, The Alliance will honor trailblazers and champions at two award events, while providing professional development and networking opportunities for coaches.

Both of the following award events start at 7:30pm at the Atlanta Dolce Conference Center, are free, and open to the public.  If you or any of your staff or students are interested in attending, please RSVP to Info@GoCoaches.org.  We will reply with directions and event details.

“The Bigger Picture of Being a Champion Awards,” is on Wednesday, May 30th, and will recognize that being a champion is more than just what happens in competition.

The “champions” include University of Texas track and field coach Beverly Kearney, UCLA softball coach (retired) Sue Enquist, social justice leader Richard Lapchick, Black Women in Sport executive director Tina Sloan-Green, college athletics legendary leader Charlotte West, and the University of Tennessee women’s basketball head coach emerita Pat Summitt(via video).

The Alliance will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Title IX on Thursday, May 31st and honor former athletes and coaches who continue to be Title IX advocates such as Christine Grant, Nancy Hogshead-Makar, Karen Morrison and Olympian Teresa Edwards.

Both events are followed by an opportunity to meet the awardees.

Coaches interested in attending The Huddle can see the schedule and registration information at:

Kearney, Enquist and Lapchick will also lead educational sessions, along with University of Oklahoma women’s basketball coach Sherri Coale; University of Florida women’s soccer coach Becky Burleigh; Texas Southern University women’s basketball coach and Olympian Cynthia Cooper-Dyke; and motivation specialist Spencer Wood.

“The Huddle will provide women coaches in all sports with an excellent opportunity to enhance their professional skills, as well as to network with their peers and other professionals.” said Celia Slater, co-director of the Alliance of Women Coaches and executive director of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy.

The Alliance was established a year ago in response to requests from graduates of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy to provide ongoing education and professional development for women in the coaching industry.  The Alliance serves women coaches at all levels in all sports in NCAA Divisions I, II and III and other sport associations.
