With the 2012 Major League Soccer All-Star game a little more than a week away, this week’s Resource Library feature focuses on how the pros use different coaching tactics and methods to prepare the nation’s best players against international opponents.
This week’s article highlights the preparations of Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew for a 2008 match against Kansas City, “Building to Game Time.” This analysis was completed by National Soccer Coaches Association of America Staff Coach Rob Herringer as part of his Master Coach course.
In “Building to Game Time,” Herringer studied the Crew at two practices and throughout gameday against Kansas City. After watching the game, he provided a match analysis and individual notes for each Columbus player. This was completed as an assignment for Herringer’s Master Coach Diploma.
Herringer, the head men’s soccer coach at Benedictine College, has compiled an 85-31-11 overall record in seven years at the helm. A true student of the game, he has traveled overseas to study some of the top clubs in the world. He also holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma, which he passed with distinction.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
