As many college students know (or will soon find out), to get ahead in your career is to set yourself apart and gain as much “real-world” experience as possible.
One way to do that is to that is through internships and the NSCAA has internship positions open for current students and recent graduates.
Our national office in Kansas City, Kan., is currently seeking some fresh faces for the Fall 2012 semester. Our program has been developed into a comprehensive opportunity for students wishing to further their career in many aspects of soccer.
The NSCAA Internship Program allows participants to blend their interest in soccer or the sports industry, with important career skill sets within marketing, coaching education, organizational services, graphic design and event management.
“I get to come into work every day knowing that whatever task I get, I will help develop the growth of soccer in the United States,” said Phil Gomez, senior at Kansas State and Summer 2012 intern.
“I have grown up around soccer and getting an internship dealing with the game was one of my main goals. I am one step closer to my goal of working in the sports marketing field.”
Interns will be able to work with many of our departments, however much of their time will be dedicated to the department for which they apply. Our current internship openings include those in our Marketing, Coaching Education, Graphic Design, Finance/Accounting, Events and College Services departments.
“The marketing internship at the NSCAA was a comprehensive experience. My assignments included updating the website, experimenting with social media platforms and email marketing services,” said Matthew Folger, recent University of Delaware graduate and Summer 2012 intern. “Through all of those, I witness how each assignment tied in together to promote the organization and its objectives.”
The Fall 2012 interns will also have the option to work at the NSCAA Convention in January, dubbed “The World’s Largest Annual Gathering of Soccer Coaches.” There, interns have a chance to get hands on experience by working day-to-day operations, see the MLS SuperDraft live, watch sessions from world-class clinicians and network at socials held by the NSCAA and our partners.
Interns will also have the chance to work on partner projects throughout the semester. Several of our partners include adidas, Eurosport, Kwik Goal, MLS and FOX Soccer.
Additional information can be found at the NSCAA Internship Program page and interested applicants can forward resumes to Kristine Mason at kmason@nscaa.com.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
