DeCesare led the Blue Devils in the opening week with eight points on three goals and two assists. No. 2 Duke went 2-0 last week with wins over William & Mary and Elon.
Her efforts in the first week of the season also earned her ACC Player of the Week and TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week accolades.
The 2012 team captain now has 10 career goals, including three game-winners and earned 2011 ACC All-Tournament Team honors.
Also nominated were senior midfielder Amy Harrison (Tennessee), senior goalkeeper Jami Finnell (UMKC), senior goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo (Cal State Northridge), senior forward Melissa Busque (Seattle), senior forward Rachel Strawn (Idaho State), junior midfielder Lisa Nouanesengsy (Indiana), junior midfielder Kristen Pollard (Central Arkansas), sophomore forward Kyla Kellerman (Oakland), sophomore forward Jennifer Martin (UCF) and freshman goalkeeper Jamie Simmons (UNC-Greensboro).
The Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Players of the Week are announced every Wednesday; next week's announcement will also include the first men's Player of the Week pick of the season.
Each week, one male and one female player is selected by a committee from nominations submitted by NCAA Division I conferences. The winners will also be recognized during the NSCAA College Game of the Week broadcast on FOX Soccer.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
