Sometimes it’s about taking the next step in your career. Sometimes it’s needing of a change of pace or scenery. Perhaps you are in need of some new, exciting blood to reinvigorate your organization.
Regardless of what the reasons are, the job search process for both the seeker and the employer can be a daunting task but the NSCAA has the resources to help streamline your process.
Staying focused on being dedicated to helping its members and the soccer community in any way, the NSCAA recently redesigned its Career Center to better serve job seekers, employers and recruiters alike.
The NSCAA Career Center is the premier electronic recruitment resource for soccer coaches, providing a host of free benefits to its users. For instance, the Career Center provides:
- Confidential resume posting: Job seekers can make their resumes available to certain employers within certain industries
- Job search control: Find relevant job listings easily and quickly, as well as sign up for automatic email notifications for new postings that match your criteria
- Easy application system: Once a password-protected account is created, the process of submitting your credentials is easy
- Saved jobs capability: Not able to apply for your targeted postings all at once? Save up to 100 postings in a folder to apply for when you’re ready
The NSCAA Career Center also makes it easy for employers and recruiters to find their next great fit into their organization. The NSCAA has partnered with the Sports & Athletics Career Network (SACN) to enhance the platform, which allows organizations to post openings easily and widespread throughout the SACN system.
Looking and applying for jobs are not the only two steps in the job seeking process; it’s also about being knowledgeable about your industry. While there are differences within each organization, be sure to do some comparative research on pay scale. Factors may include (but not limited to):
- Qualification and experience levels
- Playing experience
- Team’s level of play
- Ace of players
As an example, the Red Bull Training Program coaching staff are paid an hourly rate during the spring and fall season and a flat weekly wage per camp during the summer season. STMA Director of Coaching Roger Derham’s “Team Coaches Pay Scale” outlines his factors to help determine a yearly rate for a paid coach; you can find his document in the Online Resource Library.
Another way to know the industry and boost your resume at the same time is to invest in an NSCAA Coaching Academy course. Whether your just starting your coaching career or a seasoned coach, the NSCAA has designed its education program to enhance the knowledge of soccer coaches.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
