Notre Dame senior forward Ryan Finley and Florida State sophomore defender Kristin Grubka have been named Disney Soccer/NSCAA Players of the Week for their accomplishments on the pitch, Aug. 27-Sept. 2.
Finley notched five points on two goals and an assist to help the No. 17 Fighting Irish go 2-0 and win the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic. The Lumberton, N.J., native scored twice in a 3-2 win against San Diego State, scoring the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute.
Finley followed up with an assist on the game-clinching goal in Notre Dame’s 2-1 victory against Clemson. His efforts earned him a nod on the IU Classic All-Tournament Team and BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
Grubka added two game-deciding goals to her credit to aid the No. 1 Seminoles to two shutouts last week. The team blanked No. 24 Florida, 1-0, during which Grubka headed in the only goal Florida State would need to top the Gators at home for the first time since 2006.
The Melbourne, Fla., native capped the weekend using her head again to net the game winner against College of Charleston off a corner kick late in the first half.
At defender, she also played an integral role in FSU’s defense that limited Florida and College of Charleston to a combined seven shots on goal. All of this nabbed Grubka her first career ACC Player of the Week award.
The Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Players of the Week are announced every Wednesday. One male and one female player is selected by a committee from nominations submitted by NCAA Division I conferences.
The winners will also be recognized during the NSCAA College Game of the Week broadcast on FOX Soccer.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
