Old Dominion and George Mason are set to square off in a Colonial Athletic Association contest in this week’s NSCAA College Game of the Week on FOX Soccer.
In addition to featuring two top-notch men’s soccer programs, Friday’s 7 p.m. ET game will also feature two Old Dominion players who were named to the MAC Hermann Watch List in August: senior goalkeeper Victor Francoz and senior forward Yannick Smith.
Old Dominion is looking to bounce back from its 4-1 loss last Saturday to league opponent Drexel. Led by head coach Alan Dawson, the 6-1-0 Monarchs are ranked 14th in this week’s NSCAA weekly poll.
Junior forward Tim Hopkinson leads the team with 20 points (8 goals, 4 assists) and was recognized earlier this season as a Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week. Senior midfielder/forward Chris Harmon and senior midfielder Jordan LeBlanc follow up with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Old Dominion’s defense has been solid so far this season, allowing only eight goals. Francoz is the team’s primary keeper, racking up 25 saves and two shutouts this year.
George Mason, led by head coach Greg Andrulis, received votes in the latest NSCAA weekly rankings and enters Friday’s game 7-1-0 overall (1-0 CAA). The Patriots are coming off a 2-0 win last Saturday versus conference adversary UNC-Wilmington.
George Mason is offensively outdoing opponents this season, outscoring them 21-7 and outshooting foes, 120-55. Leading the team so far is sophomore forward/midfielder Timmy Mulgrew with 14 points on five goals and four assists. Behind him is senior forward Taylor Morgan with 12 points on six goals.
The defense is anchored by senior goalkeeper Dustin Butcher, who has a 0.84 goals-against average, 17 saves and three shutouts to his credit.
The NSCAA College Game of the Week is in its eighth season on FOX Soccer. The broadcast features games between some of the top NCAA Division I men’s and women’s teams on Thursday and Friday nights.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
