UCF junior forward Deshorn Brown and Texas Tech freshman forward Janine Beckie have each been named Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week.
Brown recorded a stellar 11 points last week in the Knights’ two games. The Manchester, Jamaica, native started the week with a hat trick and an assist in UCF’s 4-3 double-overtime win over Memphis, though he sat out the first half due to injury.
He followed up with a pair of goals against UAB. He leads Conference USA with 29 points on 13 goals and 3 assists and earned his first league Offensive Player of the Week award.
This week’s other men’s finalists included senior forward Ryan Finley (Notre Dame), sophomore goalkeeper Nathan Dean (Elon) and freshman forward Jay Chapman (Michigan State).
Beckie tallied a pair of goals in Texas Tech’s 2-0 shutout over Oklahoma State in last Friday’s NSCAA College Game of the Week. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., native’s two goals brought her season total to a team-leading 11 which leads all freshmen in the conference.
Additionally, Beckie recorded her fourth game-winning goal and her second multi-goal game of the year.
This week’s other women's finalists included junior midfielder/forward Janali West (Cal State Fullerton) and freshman forward Jamie Alexander (Furman).
The Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Players of the Week are announced every Wednesday. One male and one female player is selected by a committee from nominations submitted by NCAA Division I conferences.
The winners will also be recognized during the two NSCAA College Game of the Week broadcasts this weekend on FOX Soccer.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
