FOX Soccer will again broadcast the NSCAA College Game of the Week, this time featuring Conference USA women’s game on Thursday evening, followed by a BIG EAST men’s matchup on Saturday night.
The Memphis women host league foe Rice on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. ET, while the Louisville men host conference opponent St. John’s on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Red Storm is currently tied for No. 10 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire national poll.
Memphis v. Rice – Thursday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.
These two teams, currently first and second in league standings, have played each other six times in their history, with the Tigers leading series 4-1-1.
Memphis, coached by head coach Brooks Monaghan, is 9-4-0 overall (5-1-0 C-USA) and is looking to rebound following a 4-1 loss to UTEP last week.
The Tigers are led offensively by junior forward Cristobel Oduro, who has scored 29 points on 11 goals and seven assists this season. Also contributing offensively are Kylie Davis with five goals and five assists, and Tine Schryvers with six goals and an assist.
Defensively, the Tigers are anchored by goalie Christa Strickland, who has played in 11 games, has 33 saves and a 1.32 goals-against average.
Rice, led by head coach Nicky Adams, has 7-5-3 record with a 4-1-1 record in conference play. Coming off a tie against East Carolina, the Owls will come into the game two points back from first place in Conference USA.
The Owls are led offensively by two freshmen forwards in Holly Hargreaves and Lauren Hughes. Hargreaves leads the team with eight goals and three assists on the year, while Hughes has contributed six goals and two assists.
In goal, Amy Czyz has played every match and she sports a 1.01 goals-against average, along with 71 saves and three shutouts.
Louisville v. St. Johns – Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
Saturday night’s contest is a battle of the top two teams in the BIG EAST’s Red Division.
The Cardinals, led by head coach Ken Lolla, will have a brief rest period after its 2-2 tie against Indiana on Wednesday night. Entering this weekend’s game, the team is 7-4-1 overall and 3-1-0 in league action.
Senior defender Greg Cochrane leads the offensive charge so far this season with 12 points (5 goals, 2 assists), followed by redshirt sophomore midfielders Will Vitalis and Dylan Mares with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists respectively).
The Cardinals have been toggling between two goalkeepers this season: redshirt junior Mike Mauro and sophomore Joachim Ball. Mauro has 14 saves and a 0.96 goals-against average, while Ball has eight saves and one shutout to his credit.
The Red Storm have not seen competition since its 3-0 win last Saturday against Cincinnati, which moved the team to an 8-1-4 overall record and a 2-1-1 mark in the conference.
Offensively, head coach Dr. Dave Masur will rely on senior midfielder Jack Bennett, who leads the team with 12 points on four goals and four assists. Also posting double-digit offensive points is redshirt junior midfielder Nick Matthews with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
Defensively, the Cardinals have kept opponents to just eight goals this season. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Rafael Diaz has played in all 13 games, posting an impressive 0.58 goals-against average along with 44 saves.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
