The NSCAA continues to join forces with other organizations to advance the game of soccer through coaching. This time it is Ohio South Youth Soccer Association coming on as an Official Education Partner.

Based in Milford, Ohio, the OSYSA is a member state of US Youth Soccer and the US Soccer Federation that organizes and promotes recreational and competitive youth soccer programs in the southern region of the state.

“The Education Department of the NSCAA is thrilled to be collaborating with Ohio South Youth Soccer Association to provide coaches of Ohio a broader and more consistently programmed suite of educational offerings,” said Ian Barker, NSCAA Director of Coaching Education.

“The quality of content and delivery will be the priority of the two organizations so that coaches in Ohio receive relevant and applicable information that is delivered in a way that is mindful of achieving the greatest value for their investment of time and their commitment.”

This alliance will provide OSYSA and its coaches access to NSCAA courses, including Levels 1 through 6, Goalkeeper Levels 1 through 3, Special Topics and High School diplomas.  These courses will begin in limited fashion this winter with a full launch in the summer of 2013.

Tom Frisbie, OSYSA Executive Director, added: "We are excited about this opportunity to merge the coaching and educational resources of NSCAA and Ohio South to grow youth soccer in our association and in Ohio. In the past 6 months, Ian Barker and Gordon Henderson (OSYSA Director of Coaching) have worked very hard to achieve a landmark educational model that will service our entire soccer community."

The OSYSA and the NSCAA will also work to exchange educational material. In this year’s Pre-Season edition of the Soccer Journal, the OSYSA provided a group defending training exercise developed by the association’s Olympic Development Program.

The exercise provides a warm-up and subsequent phased out activities provides points of emphasis for coaches to look for while the team is performing.

This exercise and hundreds more from a variety of sources are available at the Online Resource Library as an NSCAA member benefit.
