Sophomore forward Sagi Lev-Ari of Cal State Northridge has earned the final Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week award of the 2012 season.
A native of Haifa, Israel, Lev-Ari scored two game-winning goals to lead the Matadors to the Big West Men’s Soccer Tournament title. The championship was CSUN’s first tournament championship in the program’s history of being a varsity sport.
In the 2-0 win against Cal Poly in the semifinal round, he finished off a cross from teammate Edwin Rivas for a goal in the 60thminute. Then in the final game against UC Davis, Lev-Ari put up the lone goal of the match in the 16th minute.
Lev-Ari’s efforts earned him Big West Tournament MVP honors.
Sophomore midfielder Akeil Barrett (Tulsa) and sophomore forward Adam Montague (Michigan State) were this week’s other nominees.
The Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Players of the Week are announced every Wednesday. One male and one female player is selected by a committee from nominations submitted by NCAA Division I conferences.
