Senior midfielders Morgan Andrews from Milford High School (Milford, N.H.) and Mike Rood from Susquehanna Valley High School (Conklin, N.Y.) have been named NSCAA High School Players of the Week.
Andrews finished her season on a high note. As team captain she led the Spartans to victory by scoring both goals in the team’s 2-1 win over last year’s state champion Souhegan High School. That win earned the Milford High its first New Hampshire state soccer championship in its history.
Andrews led the team in goals and assists all four years of her high school career and will graduate with school records in goals (114) and assists (53). Andrews and the Spartans are coached by John Valchos.
Rood had a clutch week last week scoring three goals (and the game-winner) in a 5-2 victory in the sectional championship game. He followed that performance with an assist on the lone goal in the state quarterfinal game to help advance the Sabers to the state semifinals for the first time in school history.
Rood, in his third year as captain, has led the Sabers in goals and assists, and has earned two All-State awards and two All-Region nods. Rood and the Sabers are coached by Ted Hudock.
Other female nominees are Hailey Williams from Calvert High School (Prince Fredrick, Md.) and Kaitlin Saulter from Hermon High School (Herman, Maine).
Other male nominees are Jordan Stewart from The Geneva School (Winter Park, Fla.), Owen Ryan from Durham School of Arts (Durham, N.C.), and Connor Smith from Gonzaga College High School (Washington D.C.).
The NSCAA High School Player of the Week program is designed to highlight the future stars of the game. Anyone can nominate a player, however only players whose coach is a current NSCAA member are eligible for selection. Honorees will be announced on Wednesdays.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
