2013 Convention Continued Thursday Capped by Exhibit Hall Opening
Looking at the Thursday portion of the 2013 Convention could have overwhelmed some, but you can’t say that there wasn’t a little something for everyone.
Dozens of field and lecture sessions were jammed into the first full day of the Event, while Convention-goers could also take in several other soccer-related activities.
The day kicked off in a major way, with one of the first sessions being David Platt’s “The Winning Mindset: Recruiting, Assessing and Building Mental Toughness.” Attendees also had the option to attend Tony DiCicco’s “Training Goalkeepers to Deal with Flank Attacks” among other sessions.
The Major League Soccer SuperDraft kicked off at noon, attracting attendees, Indianapolis locals and the soccer faithful into the Sagamore Ballroom. Cheers could be heard through the hallways of the Indianapolis Convention Center as each decision was announced.

The afternoon was also riddled with informational sessions, including those that counted toward a variety of diplomas and certificates offered at this year’s event. Arnold Muhren and Eddie van Schaick’s session “Passing and Receiving” counted toward an USSF CEU, while Ralf Peter’s “Winning the Ball with Organized Midfield Pressing” counted toward the NSCAA/NFHS Professional Development certificate.
Of the Thursday schedule, attendees tweeted:
The day was capped off by the grand opening of the Largest Soccer Trade Show in North America, best known as the NSCAA Convention Exhibit Hall.
Following another full slate of sessions and meetings, Friday concludes with the NSCAA Awards Banquet to honor those who have contributed to the game we celebrate this week.
