The Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship

The NSCAA Women’s Committee is proud to offer the Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship to individuals dedicated to the growth of the Women’s/Girls game.
Charlotte Moran had been involved in soccer for more than 20 years, beginning at the grassroots level as a team manager through roles at regional and national levels. In addition to her leadership roles at the state level, she also served as the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Region I Girls Administrator for a number of years as well as the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program National ODP Girls Chair.
A staunch supporter of girls and women soccer players, she hosted women’s national team games in Pennsylvania, promoted the professional women’s league and encouraged clubs and schools to offer girls’ soccer. Moran worked with the girls in her region to teach a love of the game, not only as a player but a spectator. On many occasions she addressed girls’ teams and organizations, sharing with them the unique qualities of the game and how the team concept fostered in the game helped develop personal growth.
Charlotte’s wishes were to provide financial support to anyone involved as a player, coach, or administrator of girls or women’s soccer for their positive contribution to the sport or in support of their continued work in the development or promotion of the women’s game. This scholarship has been established to honor the long-time women’s soccer advocate who lost her battle to pancreatic cancer in May 2009 after heroically battling the disease for nearly two years.
The Women’s Committee is seeking coaches, administrators and players, who are currently involved in the game, are willing to give back to the game following their experience, and who demonstrate the ability to excel at developing both players and programs. The scholarship is limited for use at NSCAA courses or events with a maximum award amount of $2000; multiple scholarships may be awarded.
Applicants must be currently involved in the women’s/girls game, an NSCAA member, and must submit a current coaching/soccer resume with a proposal stating intended use and purpose for the scholarship.
Candidates will be selected on the following in no order:
- Purpose and intended use that will benefit candidates development and/or the development of the women’s game
- Evidence of candidates previous effort to pursue development (previous coaching courses, convention attendance)
- Preference given to new applications (candidates who have not received previous funds)
- Financial hardship or need
- Previous contribution/service to the women’s game
Applications will be reviewed by members of the NSCAA Women’s Committee, with final selection being made by the Women’s Committee Chair, an officer of the Charlotte Moran Memorial Fund and the NSCAA Director of Coaching. Applicants will be required to present the Committee with a coaching/soccer resume and proposal detailing the use of the funds, and a statement why the funds should be awarded to the candidate.
More information on how to apply will be available on the NSCAA website in the coming months.
The Charlotte Moran Memorial Fund, a 501c3 organization, was created after Charlotte's passing in 2009 to fulfill her wishes. Contributions may be made at http://www.charlottemoran.org/.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
