Soccer is a game of quick decisions – actions and reactions. The players who can quickly weigh their options and execute appropriate decisions and game actions swiftly and efficiently gain the competitive edge.
Kevin McGreskin, one of the world’s most highly respected field vision and game awareness specialists, has figured out dynamic ways to gain that competitive edge. He will share his knowledge at the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City as a featured clinician.
McGreskin, who holds the prestigious UEFA A License qualification through three different national associations (English FA, Irish FA and Welsh FA) – will deliver a presentation on “Developing Vision and Awareness” on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 2:15 p,m,, then conduct a field session of practical exercises on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 3:45 p.m.
The technical director for the innovative Soccer eyeQ program, McGreskin has an impressive record of delivering clinics and workshops across the United Kingdom and other parts of the world to professional and semi-professional clubs, as well as successfully presenting on the prestigious UEFA Pro License and UEFA A License courses.
During the past 11 years, McGreskin has worked with many players of all ages and abilities, from first-team professionals to grassroots. His major focus and passion has been the development of field vision and game awareness in all players he works with, using innovative techniques and exercises to improve players’ abilities in these essential areas.
McGreskin has written many articles for international coaching magazines and newsletters on the topic of developing field vision and game awareness. He also has produced resources to assist clubs and coaches in teaching his proven techniques to players.
“The ordinary player is either too slow to see an opportunity or, when they do, the tempo of their play is simply not quick enough – both of which give the opposing team time to react and defend effectively,” said McGreskin.
“In soccer, almost everything players do and almost every decision they make is because of what they see – and the earlier a player sees something, the quicker they can act. Improving a players ’field vision.’ the awareness of everything around them, will help them become a much more dynamic and effective player.
“For any player to be successful, the ability to play with their head up, scan the field of play and continuously assess the ‘game picture’ is essential. Therefore, it is crucial that we develop these attributes during our coaching sessions.
“Soccer eyeQ has devised an array of unique soccer practices and training methods, which train and develop the essential skills and habits required for expert field vision and game awareness. These exercises will help players see more, think quicker and play better!
“I look forward to sharing some of these exercises at the NSCAA Convention in Kansas City.”
His is one session you will not want to miss.

I wish someone uploaded a legible copy of the Bob Gansler & Tony DiCiccio presentations at The Orlando event. I was there, it was awesome, and now I can't read my diagram/notes as to how the ball/players move!
