Today's article was written by Black Soccer Coaches Committee (BSCC) Chairman Daniel Gordon.

We are all delighted that you had made the sacrifice to attend the 2012 Convention in Kansas City. Despite the occasional chilly days, I do believe those in attendance had a fantastic time with the numerous educational offerings, clinics, receptions and just catching up with friends.

Our scheduled functions were well received and attended by various cross sections of our soccer community. Our guest clinician, Mike Curry made us proud by executing a fantastic GK floor session,. He also spoke at our general meeting about his appointment to the US Men’s Soccer Team as a GK coach and held a very informative session on “Diversity Awareness: The Decision Exercise”.  All these events went very well. Thanks to all those who had the opportunity to attend.

As we look ahead to 2012, I am encouraging each and every one of us to be mindful of the wonderful opportunity we have as a committee to reach out to other coaches of color in your communities and invite them to become a member of the NSCAA. The NSCAA/BSCC has made tremendous strides in the development of various scholarships and grants to aid in the development of our coaches throughout the United States. We have also improved our communication with our overseas brothers and sisters in the Caribbean and several African countries. This is the year to come on board, as we look to a successful year leading up to Indianapolis 2013. Come and “Learn, Participate and Belong”.
