Yamaguchi, White Win MAC Hermann Trophy

Junior forwards Mami Yamaguchi (Florida State/Tokyo, Japan) and O’Brian White (Connecticut/Scarborough, Ont.) are the winners of the 2007 Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, presented to the top female and male players in NCAA Division I soccer. This year’s award winners share a lot in common. They are both juniors, both forwards and each led Division I soccer in scoring. The winners were decided by a vote of NCAA Division I soccer coaches who are current members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Sauerbrunn, Josten Named Collegiate Scholar Athletes of the Year

Becky Sauerbrunn (St. Louis, Mo.) of the University of Virginia and George Josten (Idaho Falls, Idaho) of Gonzaga University have been named the 2007 NSCAA/adidas Scholar Athletes of the Year.

To be considered for the award, a player must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of the time and be a significant contributor; have a nominating coach who is a current NSCAA member; and be either a junior in academic standing or above at the institution or be in the second year at the current school if a transfer student. Players selected to the first team of the NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America Team then are reviewed by a committee, which then selects the Scholar Athletes of the Year.

2007 Collegiate National Players of the Year Announced

Ten players have earned selection as NSCAA/adidas National Players of the Year for their respective level of intercollegiate play. They join O'Brian White (Connecticut/Scarborough, Ont.) and Mami Yamaguchi (Florida State/Tokyo, Japan), the two winners of the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, presented to the top players in NCAA Division I competition.
